  3. I hope this isn't a sign that you're about to disappear behind The Filter. I've never commented to say how much I've enjoyed your artwork, because I have nothing more piteously trite to offer in re than "I enjoy your artwork." Did I mention that I enjoy your artwork?... :)

  4. My host (Hightek) is still down. They report,

    Server Issue (Investigating)
Affecting Server - [US] Sapphire | Priority - Critical

We are aware of an issue affecting the Sapphire server.

The US datacentre and looking into the matter but are yet to provide some feedback as we are unable to access the server.

    Update 11.18AM

We are still awaiting a report from datacentre technicians in the US facility.

Thus far, all connectivity to the server itself is ok, so the issue is related to the server itself but as to what we are unsure at this point.

We will provide further information as soon as possible.

    Update 1.40PM

Issues have developed with both the operating system kernel and several related modules that a required for the operating system to run.

Urgent attempts to repair are currently underway but we cannot provide an ETA as it is quite a complex process to both rebuild the kernel as well as rebuild/reinstall vital modules in order for the system to operate correctly.

    We will update asap.

    Update 12/11/10

Unfortunately, OS repairs and module repairs are not having the success we hoped but we are making progress.

All customers affected will receive a months credit for this outage but at this point, we need to continue working on the issues in order to restore service so we can migrate customers to another server.

    We will advise further asap.

    Update

Unfortunately, we have still not received any further information from the US datacentre or it's technicians which is very frustrating for us.

We are working on alternative solutions to this matter but we have no ETA as to when we can implement any.

We are checking the availability of server backup images and their integrity and will advise on further information as it is available.

    Update 15/11/10

It appears that it is not only Hightek Hosting having issues with their servers, the datacentre and technicians within the facility.

We have received reports that a large number of other providers within the US are experiencing similar issues, with their servers now becoming completely unavailable and repairs not being completed.

We are working with these other providers to try and contact revelant parties/authorities within the facility to restore services, but at present, we simply cannot provide an ETA as to how long it will take.

If any customers have full backups available (which you all should) and wish for us to restore them onto a new server that we both own and control and have full access to within a reputable supplier, please open a ticket titled "Please restore my service from my full backup" and we will provide instructions of how to provide your full backup to us.

Customers who do not have full backups will need to contact us for further information about restoring your service.

  5. It appears that it is not only Hightek Hosting having issues with their servers, the datacentre and technicians within the facility.

'Although the technicians who seized it in a shocking coup this week still have control of the facility, management emphasizes that it expects to bring this unfortunate incident to a swift conclusion. Recent communication from the hostage negotiator indicates that the servers have not been harmed, and say they are being treated humanely. They have requested a large pizza and a DVD of Tron.'
